Michael Bond for State Senate
BOND RIGHT TO KEEP SCHOOL SEAT, TOO
by Jodee Burkart
I read your Sept. 23 story about Michael Bond, the candidate in the 31st state senate district, and whether there would be a conflict of interest if he served in the state Senate and kept his seat on the Woodland Elementary District 50 School Board. I commend Mr. Bond for his willingness to hold both seats if elected to the state Senate. In this day and age, it seems nearly impossible to find anyone who is even remotely interested in donating their time and efforts to a worthy cause for the community.
In northern Lake County, we have a candidate who is willing to put his corporate career on hold and address the issues facing the district. On top of that, he intends to keep his seat on the school board, which is a non-paying position. The time commitment is about one or two nights per month, and there would absolutely be no conflict of interest. On the contrary, it will keep Mr. Bond connected with the community and ensure that he is focused on this district’s top priorities: education and property taxes.
