Supporting Our Troops
When people say, "the troops", they are refering to brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, husbands and wives. They are our fellow citizens and deserve the
best of us as they give the best of themselves. There are many ways to support our troops... from advocating for reasoned policy to keeping careful watch on elected officials regarding how they vote on veteran's
issues. You can help our troops right now from that chair you are sitting on. The organizations below provide excellent methods of acting on your support for our troops. Just click on the banners.
Operation Hero Miles collects donated frequent flier miles from a variety of carriers and converts them to tickets for the families of service members who have been injured. Often times family members
are unable to get themselves to military hospitals to be with their loved ones. This is an excellent way to help.
The helmet worn by service members does have some room for improvement. A $76 kit designed by Dr. Bob Meaders greatly improves the protection offered by the helmet. The kit provides a simple shock absorbing system
that reduces the incidents of traumatic brain injury when the helmet is struck by a projectile or encounters a concussive force. Many of our troops lack this kit for their helmet but you can help correct this right now.
The Wounded Warrior Projects assists those veterans who have been wounded in conflicts and have needs beyond the immediate medical intervention provided by the DOD (pretty much all of them do). The WWP
provides programs and services designed to ease the burdens of the wounded and their families, aid in the recovery process, and smooth their transition back to civilian life.
